Interns meet with Governor General

Participants in the ANU internships program met with the Governor General recently as part of their goal to learn more about how government works in Australia.

During their visit to Government House, students and staff from the Australian National Internships Program (ANIP) were able to speak with His Excellency Major General Michael Jeffery, broadening their understanding of the country’s system of government.

“Meeting with the Governor General was the highlight of our second semester this year,” ANIP Director Associate Professor Robert Campbell said.

“There are few people more qualified to provide an insight into governance in Australia than the Queen’s representative, who received us all with warmth and generosity.”

ANIP is conducted by ANU in conjunction with the Parliament of Australia and other national institutions, which host students for their semester-long placements.

Participants come from all over Australia and around the world.
